Put your money where your mouth is
Art by Tony Montana at The Blast Furnace Feel free to copy and use Tony’s art to spread the meme.
There’s a campaign afoot led by Have Coffee Will Write to make a painless protest against Wal-Mart’s labor policies. Rather than inflict guilt on those who need the low prices for basic living supplies, he’s advocating purchasing just one item elsewhere. Toothpaste.
My own “support the competitors” philosphy took a huge hit when my daughter needed a new pair of glasses last month. Rather than patronize Wal-Mart, where I’ve always bought glasses, I took her to a (name deleted to protect the not-so-innocent) mall chain. The final cost? $300 AFTER a $100 off coupon. Basically the same glasses at Wal-Mart a year ago were $150. My budget can’t absorb that kind of hit, and I doubt many other people’s can, either.
So I’m joining the toothpaste boycott. It’s easy, it’s painless, and I feel better making a contribution I can manage to the cause.
Think about it.
