Reality check
You regular readers who check in a couple of times a week are a rare and beautiful thing, and I appreciate every one of you. It’s a little discouraging, though, that the vast majority of my 120+ hits per day comes from search engines, what I call Drive Through visitors. Every once in awhile I like to take a look at my stats and see just what brought them here.
- invisible people 52
- perfect ass 44
- logo quiz 36
- we are the music makers we are the dreamers of dreams 17
- jon bonet 15
- crazy meds 13
- daily troll 12
- wisconsin cheese soup 10
- crazymeds 10
- vagina pictures 9
Interesting. At least “invisible bikinis” and “see invisible people have sex” have fallen out of the top 10 this month. There’s a couple of things I’ve actually written about here, but for the most part, I don’t think many found what they were really looking for. Sorry about that, passers-by.

Hi Terry!
oh, don’t you just love the passers by! for me, a post I wrote that merely mentioned “Oprah and Steadman” tops the Hit list. I always crack up at that one.
One thing I’ve learned though, is that I like all those passers-by. makes me feel like people are *actually* reading me.
Think of it this way: they’re giving you traffic. Traffic is good. you can actually say you have 120 readers a day, and nobody who hears the stat will care if they’re actually reading or not. And the thing is, some of those who come in on those weird search criteria just might come back. you never know. stranger things have happened in the blogosphere:-)
Cheers!
T.

What a great perspective, Tish. I’m always curious about what brings people here - I know that some readers found me through a search for the meds I take and talk about.
Anyone - what brought you first to I See Invisible People? Was it a search engine? I know some found me through the feminist carnivals, and Tish and I found each other first through Blog Sisters listings. I’d really like to know.

You get 120+ hits per day?! Wow. I’m averaging about twenty! And most of those are “polite points” where I’ve commented and the blog author will return the favor. I bow before your superior powers, Mistress Terry. And I simply must find a way to incorporate “perfect ass” into my next post.

Your blog shows up on my search engine as “I See Invisible People.” Everything else I hit sidetracks me to another locale in your site.

I think I’m one of your invisibles that checks in a few times a week. I found your blog through a link off another blog…. and I was drawn to your writing (and pet-blogging friday, I must admit).
I’m not sure exactly what I find so compelling, but I do think you have one of the better written blogs out there.
I’m not big on commenting, but this post seemed an appropriate time to say “hi.”

Lisa, the more provacative you can be, the better Google likes you.
I turn up on top of the list for several bizarre topics. The longer I keep at this, the more it happens.

Wow, Jane - you just made my day! Thanks so much for introducing yourself. I’ll make a special effort to get dog-blog posts up more often. I’m glad you like them!

Thanks, TG. I’m really curious how you found me the first time. I’m still amazed that anyone reads this at all.

Hi Terry, I haven’t said hi in a while, but I found you for the blogs about mental illness. You’re writings are insightful and well done. Bravo! =)

I only have one search and that’s any variant of inducing a misscarriage. Yours are definitely more intriguing. (Though I am glad that the vitamin c recipie searchers are pushing the porn searchers out of my site.)
I’m definitely one of your happy regulars. Love the stuff, love being able to check it regularly now.

You want sad? I’m getting almost as many hits a day now as I was before I went on hiatus. I think most of our actual readers use RSS feeds, and “hit count” just doesn’t tell us that much anymore. For that matter, I have as many RSS readers at bloglines as I did before I went on break, too. I’m starting to wonder if it matters how much I blog?
I think I’m one of those “couple times a week” irregulars. I learn things here.

I’m so glad you’re still around, Allison! I appreciate that a lot. Thank you.

It’s great to have you back, Burrow. I’m glad the new computer has got you back online since I always enjoy your blog. I’m glad, too, that your recipe post is still drawing people in. Sure beats porn.

A, I subscribe to your feed in Bloglines. Even though you don’t post often these days, it’s good stuff. I appreciate the rss feed letting me know when you have something up. I’m glad you find something worthwhile here. Thank you.

I have noticed that somehow I’m on your reply list sometimes as Tammy and sometimes as T.G. Scott. Don’t know how I managed to do that, but it doesn’t matter. Just thought I’d let you know that I’m one and the same.

I’d wondered if TG and Tammy were the same, so thanks for letting me know!
