Honor among thieves

Terry @ 11:14 am

Let’s hear it for criminals to the north.

RED DEER, Alta. (CP) — A Red Deer man has been jailed after an outraged burglar spotted massive amounts of child pornography on his computer and called police.

The burglar used a video camera he’d stolen from the residence to record the computer images, called police to tip them off, then left the camera and a note with the address on the steps of a church. That was enough probable cause to launch a raid.

Maybe it wasn’t a burglary. Yuck. Good for the burglar.

  2. Terry Says:

That occurred to me too, Burrow. I wonder if it was a set-up of some kind, either by the cops or by someone associated with a victim. Any way it came about, I’m glad to see the guy go down.

  3. Burrow Says:

I mean if nothing else was taken….the cops should just stop looking. I’m glad the guy got caught too. And double yay if the burglar wasn’t really a burglar. I’d risk going to jail for that!

Glad to hear that someone had a conscious…

Man I hope he burgled the pants off of that guy. Not that being a burglar is ok or anything but I really hope he not only has to go to jail but has absolutely nothing left when and if he gets out.

  6. Ahistoricality Says:

As burglaries go, it would be pretty low priority anyway: all the property was returned in good working order….

    I smell a Law&Order episode….

  7. Terry Says:

The news account says the guy plead guilty and is awaiting sentencing. One line said that the burglar hadn’t been found, but I suspect that A is right and it’s not a high priority. I hope it stays that way.
