Could you do it?
March 24 is Shutdown Day, when we’re all challenged to go 24 hours without using a computer. Since it’s a Saturday, most of us won’t have the work excuse to fall back on. I haven’t done it since being without power for a couple days several years ago, so I may just need to prove to myself that I can do it. Anyone else willing to give it a try?
If I can do this, next thing you know I’ll be signing up for the Great American Smokeout.

Shalom Terry,
I do this periodically, but usually for three days at a time as part of a mini-retreat weekend.
I find it wonderfully clarifying. Andrew Weil long ago advocated for news fasts. Electronic fasts are equally important.

Yup.
And during TV turnoff week (starts April 22) we turn off all technology. It’s good to break free for a while! Sage(Quote)
I’m going to give it a go, Jeff and Sage. I didn’t ever think about how dependent I am on my computer until I saw this. I don’t think I’m ready to go technology free for a week, though. Terry(Quote)
Hi Terry. I haerd about this on another blog yesterday. So I’ve been thnking. And because I blog too much, I’ve begun a boycott against unreadable blogs. See http://helenl.wordpress.com/2007/02/20/boycott-of-the-unreadable-blogs/ Helen Losse(Quote)
What a great idea! I think I’ll try this. I will be out of town (New York City!), so I’ll have other things to do besides surf the ‘net. I think. I hope! :-) Billie(Quote)
Good for you, Helen. I refuse to struggle to see badly designed pages, too.
New York? Way cool, Billie! I’m definitely going to unplug for one day, too. I’ll post about it again as the date gets closer. Terry(Quote)
