That’s one way to get rid of inconvenient records

Terry @ 12:07 pm

Recently extinguished, a fire this morning at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which houses nearly all of the White House staff, including White House speechwriters, White House communications, senior staff from the Office of Management and Budget and the National Security Council, as well as Cheney’s ceremonial offices.

I wonder how many CIA interrogation tapes were stored in that building ….

[...] Cheney’s office is burning. How symbolic is that? I See Invisible People asks the pertinent question: I wonder how many CIA interrogation tapes were stored in that building [...]

  2. Ahistoricality Says:

The question is not how many were stored there, but how often they’ll be able to get away with saying “it was lost in the fire” before somebody gets impeached anyway.

  3. Rebecca Clayton Says:

My goodness–I never thought of this, but I’ll bet the list of “lost in the fire” items will grow and grow.

  4. Terry Says:

Exactly right - it’s going to become a nice excuse for a lot of things, I suspect.
