You know you’re a geek when …

by Terry 29 July 2008

… you sit up in bed at 3 am trying to figure out if your breathing pattern is a sine wave or a cosine. And it makes perfect sense even when you’re awake.

I’m hopeless.

What’s your oddest not-quite-coherent thought?

That seems totally coherent to me….

I had a dream just last night in which I saw a short movie in which M*A*S*H* character Margaret Houlihan originally signed up to go to war in WWI, then spent the rest of the dream explaining to someone the historical trajectory of her career. Upon awakening I realized that my dream self neglected to notice that it would make her a lot older than she was, as WWII was actually her first war and the TV show takes place during the Korean conflict.

Thanks, Jo(e)! I wasn’t sick this time, but my fever dreams are always math or science related. I spent hours one day trying to calculate the slope of a font.

I often wake up bothered by inconsistencies like that too, A. I want to go back into the dream and get it right.

Actually, a paper tracing history against a fictional character would be fascinating, if you sat down to write it!

    Hi, Terry.. :)

I have a couple of things like this, but the one that always first comes to Mind is..

When I pick up snails off the porch or something and toss them out into the yard with a requisite “BORN FREE”, I immediately then wonder if they get little snail headaches upon landing in the grass……..

Oh, and that one is actually a very coherent, quite frequently occurring thought..

Cyber hugs from North Georgia.. :)

I love it, Cindy! I think those kind of thoughts a part of what makes us writers. And I’m sure the snails appreciate your consideration. :)
