Oops! My bad.
Violate a protection order and strangle a woman?
Claim it was an accident and that the goal was to knock her unconscious with a “sleeper hold.”
Sentence: 5 years.
Selling an ounce of marijuana will get you more time than that.
Ergo, it’s worse to get someone high than to kill a woman.
Times like this I’m ashamed to live in Washington State.

I would argue that the marijuana sentence is the one that’s grossly out of whack, except that violating the protection order ought to have moved it up from manslaughter to murder. I would also argue that the guy deserved extra time for bringing his son along….
I agree completely, A. Another thing to consider is that strangling isn’t an accident. It’s a long, painful way to die, and you have to really work at it to kill someone that way.
And to bring his kid along …. Yeah.
Potpourri early on a Thursday…
IMPORTANT (BUT PERHAPS NOT PLEASANT) PRELUDIUM: Six Bishops of one mind doing the right… - What? Religious leaders standing up for equal rights for gays? Aaaah … they’re Episcopalians. I guess……
