That’s right Christian of you, brother

by Terry 05 June 2009

On the Allen Colmes radio show, former Southern Baptist Conference second vice president Wiley Drake said he is praying “imprecatory prayer” against Obama. Imprecatory prayer is the entreaty for God to curse someone, to bring death and destruction down upon an enemy, in this case the President of the United States.

That’s right. He’s praying for God to kill President Obama and announced it on national radio.

It’s not the first time he’s called for the death of those who oppose him.   Last year he released this press announcement:

Pastor Wiley Drake Calls for Imprecatory Prayer against So-Called Religious Liberty Watchdog Group

Contact: Wiley Drake, 714-865-8132

MEDIA ADVISORY, Aug. 14 /Christian Newswire/ — In light of the recent attack from the enemies of God I ask the children of God to go into action with Imprecatory Prayer. Especially against Americans United for Separation of Church and State. I made an attempt to go to them via Matt 18:15 but they refused to talk to me. Specifically target Joe Conn or Jeremy Learing. They are those who lead the attack. (You can see their press release attack at www.au.org )

Imprecatory prayer, is now our duty

Now that all efforts have been exhausted, we must begin our Imprecatory Prayer, at the key points of the parliamentary role in the earth where we live.

John Calvin gave the church its marching orders from Scripture. The righteous have dominion, but only through imprecatory prayer against the ungodly.

David as our Old Testament shepherd gives us many Imprecatory prayers, and can be found to be in best focus in Psalm 109. Also chapters 55, 58, 68, 69, and 83

Pray these back to God and He will answer.

Jesus in Matthew 23: 13, 15, 16, 23, 24, 27, and 29 gave us our New Testament marching orders as well.

Let us join Paul and declare anathema upon anyone” who loves not the Lord Jesus.” I Cor 16:22

Church father Martin Luther, led us by saying…”If any of the enemies of God’s people belong to God’s election, the church’s prayer against them giveth way to their conversion, and seeketh no more than that the judgment should follow them, only until they acknowledge their sin, turn, and seek God.”

How to pray

Please join us, with Bible in hand, and let us do battle against the enemies of God.

Everyday telephonic prayer meeting (for those who want to pray)

Every Day 5:00 to 6:00 a.m. Pacific time zone

Call- 1-605-772-3900

(Come on the telephone line for a few minutes or all of the time, but let us all pray.

Discussion on this event can be heard daily Monday through Thursday at 9:00 am PST “The Wiley Drake Show” on www.crusaderadio.com Let us pray and see what our God will do.

I’m terribly afraid that the being who answers these poisonous prayers will not be God, but one of his deranged followers. Tell me how this isn’t treason?

Interestingly enough, the rising popularity of imprecatory prayer is associated with the religious movements Sarah Palin belongs to. Let me see if I can find the link…..

Oh, there’s this from the campaign, and this from before, but that’s not what I was looking for….

There’s this, on the spiritual warfare, but I’m not sure that’s the article I was thinking of. I’ve looked around some more and I can’t find anything more detailed.

We dodged a bullet on that one, for sure.  (Quote)

Looks like treason to me and if the shoe were on the other foot, the right-wing bloviaters on the airwaves would be screaming their heads off.

Also looks every bit as extremist as any Muslim jihadist. We look in the mirror and see the enemy.  (Quote)

I knew Palin’s church was out there, but I didn’t realize they were involved with this, A. Until I saw this article, I didn’t realize the “pray ‘em dead” crowd was still around. The practice was popular in my childhood sect, cuz God really hates those traitorous anti-war hippies and free-lovers, you know. It seem quaint to me then; much less so now.

The spiritual warfare link was great. Thanks for sharing that!  (Quote)

You’re exactly right, Sherry. It’s intended to create terror, through fear of God in believers, and fear of fanatics in non-believers. The same cult belief that advocates “pray ‘em dead” also wants to bring on Armageddon to hurry up the 2nd Coming. And they don’t care who they sacrifice to get it.  (Quote)
