My heart bleeds for him

by Terry 06 June 2009

From the LA Times:

In a brief telephone conversation with the Associated Press, Scott Roeder also disputed what he called “broad-brush” characterizations of him as anti-government.

“I want people to stop and think. It is not anti-government, it is anti-corrupt government,” said Roeder, who called from the Sedgwick County Jail in response to a written request for an interview.

Roeder, 51, of Merriam, Kan., has been charged with first-degree murder in Sunday’s shooting of the late-term abortion provider at a Wichita church. Roeder, who also is accused of assaulting two witnesses, was arrested a few hours later.

When asked to discuss the shooting, Roeder refused.

“I haven’t been convicted of anything, and I am being treated as a criminal,” he said.

But as far as I can tell, no one has executed him for crimes for which he has not been convicted. Dr. Tillman wasn’t that fortunate.

That’s pretty much S.O.P. when you’re arrested for shooting someone. What did he expect, a parade?  (Quote)

Probably, yes. He’s made himself into quite a spokesman in jail, predicting lots more violence if abortion stays legal. He really thinks he’s a hero.  (Quote)

There was a mind-blowingly banal story in the NYT a few days back about how the closure of Tiller’s clinic had left….. the protesters without anything to do! cue the violins!  (Quote)
