Random Bullets ala Parts-n-Pieces

by Terry 30 July 2009

I’ve been neglecting the blog in favor of writing on my manuscript.  But I really miss you all, so I’m throwing together some random stuff from my random state of mind.

  • Happy thing: Making progress on the novel. Made my 10 page a week goal 2 weeks in a row, plus wrote a synopsis.  Small steps, but in the right direction — 25,000 words as of tonight.
  • Happy thing: Despite my resolution to quit, I’ve started up Twitter again.  I’m feeling very lonely these days, like I’m working in a cave, so I’m marking my writing progress on it.  It’s making me feel better.
  • Not-so-happy thing: Only 1 week until Tony goes back to school.
  • Not-so-happy thing: Only 2 weeks until Meredith moves to Atlanta.
  • Kinda-happy thing: Planning our Great Road Trip Across America with Mere.
  • Happy thing: I’ve learned to tweet from my cell phone so I can feed travel updates into this page.
  • Happy thing: All the hotels I’ve booked have wi-fi. One even has a pool.  Stand by for travel pictures.
  • Not-so-happy thing: Therapy day makes me dread going to sleep. Talking stirs up all the bad stuff and brings things that I’d rather not deal with to the surface.  But that’s the point of it, I’m told.
  • Happy thing: Therapy seems to be working. I’m getting control of my nightmares – down to 2 or 3 a week now.
  • Happy thing: As my nightmares decrease, I’m needing less of my anxiety meds.  Only took Ativan once this week.

Neutral thing: My cell contract is up, so I’m thinking about getting a smart phone.  Recommendations or pans, anyone?

Neutral thing: i have an iPhone and love it. To my mind, it stands head-and-shoulders above the rest of the smartphone crowd. However, it does tie you to AT&T.

Very glad to hear that the anxiety is decreasing. That is a lovely thing!  (Quote)

    Thanks, Steve!

I’d love to get an iPhone (my son has one), but I don’t know if I can justify the cost to myself. Still, I’m looking at them used on EBay….

I’m also considering the G Phone, from T-Mobile. It’s got a lot of the same features, but is about $150 cheaper. I’m not sure how much I’d use the data plan features after this upcoming trip. So that’s part of the quandary. But I’m going out window shopping this afternoon.  (Quote)
