4 years

Four years ago today, I wrote my first post on this site.  I was in a phase of rebirth then; newly diagnosed with Bi-Polar Disorder, entering menopause,  my oldest moving away after college graduation,  my 2nd child going off to college and my youngest starting high school.  A lot of things have changed since then.
It’s [...]

Random bullets ala Parts-n-Pieces

Very happy thing: Huge congrats to Lynn who just made her first book sale — Spanish Magnate, Red Hot Revenge — to Mills and Boon Presents! I can say “I knew her when.” :)
Very happy thing: More huge congrats to Dr. Billie who finished and turned in her dissertation! I’m [...]

If not on top of the world, at least on the upward slope

I got a comment the other day that really made me think. From the very perceptive CG Hill: By now you should be doing well enough to put a serious dent in the “What am I doing?” fearfulness that seemed to be hovering over your shoulder when you got back into the swing [...]

Venturing out into the world

In written form, I consider myself a decent communicator. Close up, one to one? Not so much. There’s no delete key on spoken conversation, and I don’t get hours to formulate the perfect reply. When I’m spontaneous I usually embarrass myself. The things that pop instantly to mind are often [...]

Home again

The past isn’t dead. It isn’t even past. — William Faulkner

Happy thing: great reviews from peers on my current manuscript
Happy thing: “excellent dialogue” comment from writing instructor
Happy thing: making plans to go back next year for 2 weeks
Happy thing: chocolate velvet decaf coffee
Not-so-happy thing: fighting to stay awake after drinking decaf [...]

Random bullets ala Parts-n-Pieces

I haven’t abandoned the blog. Really. I’ve just been so tied up with Real Life that I haven’t had time to write. If anyone is still reading, here’s a rundown of what’s been happening.

Happy thing: Julie’s here for a 1 week visit. All my chicks are temporarily back in the nest.
Happy [...]

Bowing to reality

I took a step toward positive self-esteem this weekend. I bought clothes that fit. Since the failed Zoloft experiment and quitting smoking, I’ve felt horrible about myself, as I’ve expressed here. It’s going to take 3-4 months, maybe more, for the drug weight to come off, so I decided that in the [...]
