The real Lou
This is the greatest commercial I’ve seen in ages.
Lou Pinella was the best thing to ever happen to the Seattle Mariners, and when management let him go, the team raced to the bottom of the division and stayed there. Now the Cubs are lucky to have him, fiery temper and all.

Happy thing: My distributive (aka fuzzy studies) major has been approved.
Happy thing: I ordered my stats book and the t-shirt above. Yes, I’m a dork. (just got an email saying the shirt is backordered. *sigh*)
Happy thing: 1 month until my class starts.
Happy thing: mulling over plans for a non-fiction project
Happy thing: making [...]
Bracket busting on broadband
No access to a tv during March Madness? No problem. You can now watch every game live on your computer. During the day I don’t let myself turn on the tv or else I’d never get anything done, but this I can run in the background and sneak peeks as needed. [...]
Locked out
12 years ago, when I first started following them, I listened to all the Gonzaga basketball games on the radio. Back then they were an obscure team in the mid-major West Coast Conference, overshadowed by PAC 10 UW and WSU. I discovered them by accident; the AM station which carried my minor league [...]
34 days…
…until the start of the Gonzaga basketball season. Yes!
I’m not old as long as these guys are playing

The New York Yankees’ Roger Clemens (44), Philadelphia’s Jamie Moyer (44), San Diego’s Greg Maddux (41), the New York Mets’ Tom Glavine (41), Houston’s Woody Williams [...]
Turn about
As I follow the Jason Giambi steroids scandal, I have one thought:
The moralists have now decided they have a right to tell men what to do with their bodies, too.
The outrage and preaching are getting old, frankly. All the way around.

March Madness
Well, I resisted the urge to live-blog the NCAA Tournament yesterday. Stanford’s out (no surprise there - they shouldn’t have gotten an at large bid in the first place), Duke is out (fabulous play by Virginia Commonwealth!) and so, sadly, is Gonzaga. They went down 70-57 to Indiana. If Gonzaga had [...]
A ticket to the Big Dance
After a hard luck but “never give up” season, Gonzaga topped Santa Clara 77-68 last night to win the West Coast Conference tournament and cinch a berth in the NCAA Tournament. After losing Josh Heytvelt to drug charges and senior Sean Mallon to an ankle injury 2 weeks ago, the outlook seemed bleak. [...]
