3 steps forward, 2 steps back

Since I wrote last Monday, I’ve done very little except sleep and heal. So, feeling pretty good last night, I ventured out into the world for Asian food.  And ended up being Car #3 in a 4 car pile-up. Luckily, no one was seriously injured. But my knee took a beating in the collision, and [...]

An extra little adventure

There’s been a slight delay in the GRTAA. Car’s broken down in Davenport, IA, right on the Mississippi River. We’ll be at the Kia dealership when the service department opens at 7 am, looking pathetic and hoping they can bump us to the head of the queue. Will post an update when I know more. [...]

Clean up on Isle 4

In the most average of all pursuits, I’ve been yanked out of my comfort zone and tossed into confusion, to the point that I actually had a panic attack trying to shop last night. Why? They are rearranging my grocery store, and everything is in turmoil. Instead of walking in the door to a Starbucks [...]

My brain hurts

As Meredith would say, it melted. For 14 hours yesterday and probably that again today, I’m doing a crash-course in PHP. I knew some, enough to see what does what, remove elements, and troubleshoot problems, but not enough to sit down with an empty UltraEdit window in front of me and start building something. And [...]

Locked out

12 years ago, when I first started following them, I listened to all the Gonzaga basketball games on the radio. Back then they were an obscure team in the mid-major West Coast Conference, overshadowed by PAC 10 UW and WSU. I discovered them by accident; the AM station which carried my minor league baseball games [...]

Never satisfied

I’m so predictable. Thursday night I finished the freelance design job 2 weeks ahead of schedule and was proud of the result. So yesterday morning I sent the url of the test site to the client for her to choose between two header images and to get preliminary approval on the concept. She made the [...]

It’s not going to be a good day

I started the morning by slamming my hand in the door. I think one finger is broken–it’s swollen, purple and hurts like crazy when I touch it–and I’m not sure about two others. Thank goodness it’s my left. Some days it doesn’t pay to leave the house.

Changing horses in the middle of the stream

I’m a little shell-shocked right now. I went for my regular med check yesterday and found out my shrink is taking a job in another state. At the end of next month. I feel lost, and irrationally, abandoned. I fought hard against going to a psychiatrist in the first place, and only did so because [...]

Girly whining

Is there a law somewhere that says it’s illegal to have 10 perfect fingernails at one time? Just when I got them exactly the way I want them, I broke 2 this morning. They’re polished bright red, too, which means I have to remove all the color to keep from looking ridiculous. Grrr.

Ch-ch-ch-changes

I’m having to do some major expectations adjustments these days. I was 30 years old the last time I weighed what I do now and in the back of my mind I thought that as the weight came off, I’d get that 30-year-old body back. Needless to say, it hasn’t worked out that way. I’ve [...]
